What are N95 & N99 respirators?

An N95 or N99 respirator is a type of personal protective equipment (PPE). N95 and N99 respirators are rigorously evaluated and approved by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), a research institute within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Workers can wear these types of respirators to mitigate the risk of airborne transmission of pathogens.

The N95 designation refers to filter performance, where “N” means non-oil proof and 95 represents the percent of particle collection at respirator certification test conditions. The N99 designation refers to filter performance, where “N” means non-oil proof and 99 represents the percent of particle collection at respirator certification test conditions.

Features

What makes envo® respirators effective?

The envo® mask and envo® pro provide a lightweight, low-resistance barrier against most airborne particles.

  • Filtration

Four layers of synthetic plastic (polypropylene) fibers keep airborne and liquid particles out, while letting clean air in.

  • Low resistance

Non-woven fibers allow air to pass freely while trapping solid particles and non-oil based liquid droplets as small as 0.3 microns.

  • Close fit

A patented, latex-free AIRgel® seal conforms to the wearer’s face to prevent air leakage.

  • Electrostatic charge

Static electricity attracts and traps microscopic particles.

  • Ergonomic headgear

Two strap configurations provide ergonomic, adjustable options for all-day comfort.

  • One- or two-way port

Envo® mask respirators are available with or without an exhalation valve.
